About Austin Parrish

Mr. Austin Parrish, MS, MPAP, PA-C is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Florida School of Physician Assistant Studies. He joined the faculty in July of 2023.

Mr. Parrish attended Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, IL) where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor is Chemistry. Austin swam for 17 years and was apart of the EIU Men’s Swim team while at the university.

In 2017, Mr. Parrish moved to Dayton, OH where he attened Wright State University. There he recieved his Master of Science in Human Anatomy. His research was in a Cardiophysiology Lab, where he studied cardiac voltage gated ion channel expression in mouse models with dilated cardiomyopathy.

From 2019-2021, Mr. Parrish taught Anatomy and Physiology at Clark State Community College. He also was an Adjunct Faculty at Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. There he taught Human Architecture I and II, which composed of Gross Anatomy and Human Embryology for M1s and M2s.

In 2022, Mr. Parrish graduated from the University of Dayton with his Master of Physician Assistant Pratice and relocated to Gainesville, FL to begin his PA career with the North Florida Hearth & Lung Institute as a Surgical Physician Assistant.

Clinical interest include a vast array of cardiothoracic diseases/disorders. He is also passionate about LGBTQ+ Healthcare – specifically HIV/AIDS Management and Advocy and Gender Affirming Care.

His academic interest into Cardiology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease and Clinical Procedures.

Mr. Parrish is a member of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) where he completed the Future Educator Fellowship (FEF), the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA), the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (AASPA) and the Association of Physician Assistants Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (APACVS).

Outside of the hospital and classroom, Mr. Parrish enjoys traveling and expanding his palate with different cuisines and breweries. He is a dog dad to 3 resucue dogs, 2 which are retired service dogs, and enjoys spending time with them. He enjoys theme parks, reading, hiking, kayaking, spending time with family and going to the beach.
