Recreation
The University of Florida offers multiple opportunities to ensure that balance and health are a priority in each student’s life. The campus offers many recreation options including two gyms, a multitude of outdoor recreation areas, trails, and Lake Wauberg, the university’s own lake, where students can swim, sail, boat, or even wakeboard!
Intramural Sports
Led by the Intramural Chairperson, each class participates in numerous intramural sports. Students also have the option to join a team as a free agent.
Each semester, UF Intramural Sports offers leagues and one-day tournaments in diverse activities including flag football, soccer, indoor and sand volleyball, basketball, softball, dodgeball, kickball, wallyball, and tennis.

Community Service
PA Students are encouraged to give back to the community during the academic year.
The most regular service site for University of Florida PA Students is the Equal Access Clinic Network. The EAC network is made up of student-run, free healthcare clinics that are sponsored by the University of Florida College of Medicine. PA student volunteers interview patients and develop an assessment and plan in collaboration with volunteer attending physicians and physician assistants.
Furthermore, each class elects a community service chair who coordinates class wide service activities. In the past, classes have participated in various service projects including Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House, and the annual Sickle Cell Awareness walk.

State and National Conferences
It is strongly recommended that all PA students take membership in two organizations that service PAs within Florida, FAPA (Florida Academy of Physician Assistants) and AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants). These organizations provide resources to their PA members, and both are strong advocates for improving laws that directly affect the PA profession.
Each year, both organizations hold conferences that can be attended by students at a discounted rate. Generally, a contingent of UF PA students attend the AAPA national conference and the FAPA Spring conference. While the cost of attendance is the responsibility of each student, between class funds, grants from the College of Medicine, and allowances given each year from the organizations themselves, participating in conferences can be done at a fraction of the usual rate.
Gator Sports
As a member of the SEC, the University of Florida is well known for it’s multitude of NCAA Division I college athletics. With a student ID, students can attend athletic events for free or at greatly discounted rates.
Gator Football is a favorite of many students, and PAs are no exception. Attending a game at Florida Field, “The Swamp,” is an experience like no other. Late in the summer semester, students can participate in a lottery to be eligible for discounted season tickets. There is also a special block for PA students, so that classmates can gather together during the game.
